Yogi government is anti-poor, anti-Adivasi: Ajay Kumar Lallu…

Congress will observe Martyrs’ Day tomorrow in respect to those who were killed in Sonbhadra…

Lucknow, 16 July 2020: The UPCC has decided to observe July 16 as Martyrs’ Day as a mark of respect to those Adivasi sisters and brothers who fell to the brutal bullets of police while protecting their ancestral land. UPCC chief Ajay Kumar Lallu, general secretary Manoj Yadav, Ajay Rai, Rajesh Mishra, Vishwavijay Singh, Sarita Patel and many other officer bearers were arrested by anti-poor and anti-Adivasi while they were going to pay homage to the martyred souls today.
As per the fixed programme, UPCC chief Ajay Kumar Lallu was on way to meet and offer tribute to the family members of those Adivasi brothers and sisters who were killed brutally by the police in Umbha village in Sonbhdra. In memory of the martyred souls, a tribute meeting had been organised in Umbha village.
In a statement issued from the guest house in Gopiganj, UPCC chief Ajay Kumar Lallu said the Yogi Government is anti- Adivasi,anti-OBCs and anti-Dalit and stated that the Yogi Government is not able to check deteriorating law and order situation and fearless criminals, but the Yogi Government is out to suppress the Congress party and its leaders who are raising the voice and issues of Dalit- Adivasi of the state. The Yogi government is hell bent upon killing democracy in the state.
UPCC chief Ajay Kumar Lallu said that there is an atmosphere of anarchy in the state. Only recently in Bikru village of Kanpur, eight cops were killed by the goons in broad day light.Last year on July 16, ten Adivasis were killed by the powerful people of the village in a caste war. The whole of the state plunged into anarchy ever since the Yogi Government came to power. Criminals are freely roaming and the Yogi Government has failed on all fronts.
The UPCC chief further said that CM and ministers are attending functions but the voice of opposition leaders is being suppressed. By abusing the police, oppressive policy is implemented in the state. The Congress is not afraid of any such things and will stand as a wall against the oppression of the Yogi Government to save the lesser mortals. He alleged that the BJP government does not believe in the Constitution. He said that crimes like loot, murder, rape and snatching could have been checked had the government used the policemen against goons, but the government is using police forces to arrest opposition leaders.
In the statement, Lallu further said that the Yogi Government had made all promises to the victims of last year’s Umbha village massacre, but none of these has been fulfilled so far. After the massacre, the Yogi Government had promised school, police post and ownership to the victims and other poor people, but in vain. The Forest Department is not serious in notifying its land. As a result, the land is being illegally occupied, which is the main cause of dispute. In many Gram Sabhas, even Section 20 has not been published. For thousands of years, the poor Adivasis have been living in these villages and retaining their cultural identity against all odds. Even today several thousand hectares of land have been occupied by the people by making fake trusts, but the poor Adivasis are the real owners of these lands. He also accused the Yogi Government of not able to implement the National Forest Rights Act.
